Looking for something to do with your kids while school is out? How about this fun hedgehog craft! Make these while reading one of Jan Brett’s many hedgehog-centric books. Set in Denmark, these three are available as e-books from the Seattle Public Library: The Hat, Hedgie’s Surprise, and The Snowy Nap.
Brown paper – or whatever color you like!
Cut a paper plate in half.
Cut skinny triangles from the colored paper.
Turn your paper plate half so that the flat edge is along the bottom—this is your hedgehog’s tummy. The curved part is your hedgehog’s back. Pick one pointed end to be your hedgehog’s face.
Glue on the triangles along the back and in the body to make your hedgehog’s spikes.
Draw your hedgehog’s face.
Now you have your own hedgehog! What fun adventures will your hedgehog go on?
