Description: Through science-based exploration and outdoor play, preschoolers and their caregivers will experience the UW Botanic Gardens using their senses. Each class begins with an opportunity to explore several learning stations based on the week's theme where children can practice fine motor skills, sensory investigation, creativity, and pre-math and literacy skills. Station time is followed by an opening circle and hike where the group will play games, listen to a story and further explore the weekly theme. Family Nature Class is a great way to get outside with your preschooler, foster curiosity and explore the natural world.
Individual Classes: $19/class for 1 adult and 1 child. Additional child: $8/class (children must be attending with the same adult to receive the second child discount). Additional adults and siblings under 2 are free!

Inspired by all your favorite superheroes such as Wonder Woman, the Avengers, Batman, the Justice League, Spider-Man, Thor, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and more (â„¢ their respective companies). Explore the artistic form of comic book design as you learn to create your personalized edition. Create your own characters, develop story lines and incorporate pictures of actual sets, all designed with LEGO Bricks! After creating various scenes, students will snap pictures and upload them, utilizing a software program to create their very own, one of a kind comic book. Along with honing your storytelling skills, this weekly evening class at Olympia Community Center for kids ages 5-13 is sure to take your imagination to the next level. At the end of the session, students will be provided with both a digital and a bound printed copy of the comic book they created. So, how's that for comic relief?

Bring LEGO Bricks to life with Coding! The ability to code is a key component of literacy today. This evening coding class will teach your child important strategies for building confidence, logic, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills. By utilizing LEGO Education's WeDo 2.0 hardware to integrate robotics with the coding, each of the 10 weeks offers a skill level progression of coding concepts for younger kids at every skill level.

Night time is special at the Arboretum - the people and cars are gone, and the nocturnal animals move about. Night hikes are a chance for us to explore our senses, search for crepuscular and nocturnal movements in the forest and learn about night-related animal adaptations.
Programs are designed for youth ages 5-12 and their caregivers.
All night hikes meet at the Graham Visitors Center (2300 Arboretum Dr E).

Free Family Weekend Walk: A Coat of Many Colors- Maybe It's Maple Leaves

Those colors! Maples are beloved around the world for their Autumn beauty. Join us as we learn about why the leaves change and how plants prepare for the cold weather ahead.
Bring the whole family for an hour and half themed walk. During this free public tour, we will stop along the way for games, hands-on activities and learning geared toward children (2-12 years old) and their caregivers.
Tour groups gather in front of the Graham Visitors Center at 12:45pm to start our tour at 1pm, 2nd and 4th Saturdays February-November.
Free Family Weekend Walks are provided to families on a first come first served basis; the first 30 people to check in with the instructor between 12:45-1pm the day of the walk will join us!

It's a party and your child is invited! Using LEGO Bricks and Motors, we'll build Halloween-themed characters, buildings, and vehicles to populate a group miniature world at Rosedale Hall in Gig Harbor. Led by the awesome Bricks 4 Kidz staff, kids will use unique model plans and their own imaginations to collaborate, as well as enjoy a healthy snack in a fun party atmosphere, while you enjoy a well-deserved break from 5 pm to 8 pm, or optional late pick up until 9 pm.
